After Superman successfully kicked off the new DC Universe (DCU), DC Studios co-CEO James Gunn has revealed a new slate of movies and TV series—but one title is noticeably missing.

With nine more DC projects on the way, including Supergirl and a new Wonder Woman film, The Authority was not mentioned.

So, is there still a chance for the superhero team of the Wildstorm Universe to make their big-screen debut?

In a talk with Straw Hat Goofy on TikTok, James Gunn confirmed that there are nine DC projects currently in the works under his leadership.

“We got some really cool stuff happening,” he said. “We got Supergirl coming out in a year, we got Lanterns coming out [in] probably less than a year.”

And that wasn’t all—he went on to reveal more exciting projects, including a “straight horror” Clayface film, with a script written by modern horror maestro Mike Flanagan.

“And we're working on The Brave and the Bold, Wonder WomanThe Batman 2 with Matt Reeves, we're working on that, we're working on Sgt. Rock,” he added.

Unfortunately, Gunn didn’t mention The Authority, a team of superheroes from the Wildstorm Universe formed from the remnants of StormWatch.

The Authority, that's … That's not going so well?” he burst out laughing. “But I think that's really all the projects – that's everything that's important.”

The two remaining projects are the Krypto shorts for kids and Creature Commandos Season 2.

“Real big priority for us,” Gunn confirmed.

Of course, Peacemaker Season 2 will soon come, slated to hit Disney+ in August.

Is The Authority still in development in the DCU?

The Authority is originally set to be part of the DCU after Gunn himself announced it as part of the initial wave of DC Studio projects in 2023.

However, after two years, nothing is heard about it. While The Engineer was a major part of Superman Gunn admitted that the planned live-action movie has fallen by the wayside.

“It hasn’t been much [of] a priority,” he said (via ComicBook) about the movie, adding it “has had a harder time coming along.”

However, he also teased that his next feature script is related to Superman “in some way” but not a “straight-up” sequel.

So, does it mean it could be Superman and The Authority? If this happens are about to the movie adaptation of Grant Morrison’s four-issue series that sees Superman recruiting Manchester Black and a team of anti-heroes, including Apollo and Midnighter, to help him save the world.
