Jack Schlossberg has given his disapproval of American Love Story for not consulting his family in the making of the series.
The upcoming series will explore the high-profile marriage and untimely deaths of Schlossberg's uncle John F. Kennedy Jr. and Carolyn Bessette. Recently, Ryan Murphy Productions released first look photos of Paul Kelly and Sarah Pidgeon as the couple.
What Does Jack Schlossberg Think of American Love Story?
In his recent posts on Instagram Stories (via EW), Schlossberg weighed in on the making of American Love Story and its portrayal of his uncle John F. Kennedy Jr.
He revealed that his family was not consulted by the producers and had no involvement in its conception at all.
"Lately, my news feed has been filled with pictures of my uncle, John F. Kennedy Jr., a great man," Schlossberg said.
"For those wondering whether his family was ever consulted, or has anything to do with the new show being made about him, the answer is no, and there's really not much we can do."
Schlossberg explained why his family cannot do anything to stop the making of the series.
"The right to privacy, which includes the ability to control your own name, image, and likeness, doesn't survive death in the state of New York. And for that matter, he's considered a public figure, so there's not much we can do," he added.
"I hope those making this show about him take seriously what he stood for in his life, all that he achieved in it, and that they donate some of the profits from what they're making to the John F. Kennedy Library."
While Schlossberg has no qualms about the "admiration" for his uncle, "what [he] doesn't think is great is profiting off of it in a grotesque way."
