BTS’s J-Hope surprised everyone when he joined IU on her YouTube channel, IU’s Palette. As the two talked about their careers and music, the Hotel Del Luna star had one question for the famed South Korean rapper, why he didn’t invite her to the listening party for his solo debut album, Jack in the Box?
J-hope held a listening party for his new album on July 14. A number of K-pop stars graced the event, but it looked like one famous female idol was missing and it was IU.
J-Hope Talks about His Listening Party
Fans may see J-Hope as an extrovert and confident, but he reveals he has an introverted personality.
In fact, he only has a few musician friends, aside from his fellow BTS members.
He said,
“In reality, I don’t have a lot of people around me. I don’t know many artists So, there aren’t many other featured artists in my album.”
With that said, he really stepped out of his comfort zone to hold a listening party for his solo debut album.

So, why did he do that?
He revealed,
“So, one of my new challenges has been to host a listening party. The reason I decided to is to let people know what kind of musician I am and maybe hand around my name-card.”
The gathering turned out to be one of the hottest events of the year, attended by almost all of the famous personalities in the K-pop industry. However, there was one person who wasn’t invited—IU.
Why J-Hope Didn’t Invite IU?
IU couldn’t help but ask J-Hope why he didn’t invite her to the party.
“As the host of the party, why didn’t you invite me?”
The question made J-Hope flustered as he tried to come up of an excuse quickly.
The words “Making excuses faster than rapping” could even be seen in the clip’s subtitle while J-Hope tried to reason with her.

He stated,
“I really wanted to but didn’t know how.”
The “Celebrity” hitmaker then asked the “MORE” singer if she would be allowed in if she would come to his listening party, to which J-Hope responded with “of course.”
IU then warned J-Hope that he should definitely invite her next time and she would even prepare for it by going to the salon.
J-Hope’s Solo Debut Album Jack in the Box
J-Hope held a listening party for his solo debut album, Jack in the Box, and several famous K-pop artists attended it.
The likes of Heize, Zico, Kid Milli, Sunmi, Jessi, HyunA, ph-1, Gaeko of Dynamicduo, Giriboy, Bibi and Tiger JK were all there, along with the actor Uhm Jung Hwa.

These celebrities posted selfies and pictures from the event, revealing how glamorous that night was.
Jack in the Box officially dropped on July 15, featuring the lead tracks “MORE” and “Arson.”
BigHit Music described the LP, via Korea Joongang Daily, to break the mold and reflect J-Hope’s passion. It also contemplates his future path.
