The Korean invasion has undoubtedly taken the entire entertainment world by storm and with K-pop acts currently dominating the charts, it won't be long until we see our favorite K-drama actors join huge media franchises like the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Apparently, one of Korea's biggest stars Park Seo-joon has reportedly struck a deal with Marvel Studios to appear in the upcoming The Marvels project starring Brie Larson, Teyonah Parris, and Iman Vellani.
Korean entertainment websites such as koreaboo and Soompi have reported that the 32-year-old actor and star of the hit drama Itaewon Class which dominated Netflix last year will in fact be joining the Marvel Cinematic Universe project in a mystery role. Seo-joon's talent agency Awesome ENT declined to give a comment when asked about the casting rumors. Unsurprisingly, the report spread like wildfire and fans of the actor are thrilled with the idea of him going global.
I mean, the MCU has always been about representation so a guy like Park Seo-joon will always be welcome to join the fold. If he does in fact join the franchise, he'll be the second Korean actor on board as Ma Dong-seok is set to be featured in Eternals. It's safe to assume that he'll only probably get a minor cameo role in The Marvels but considering how his popularity skyrocketed over the past year alone on the global stage, Marvel Studios would be foolish not to give him a more prominent role. I guess we'll just have to wait and see how it all plays out.
The Marvels is scheduled to hit cinemas in 2022.
