The It Ends with Us legal drama has intensified as actress Isabela Ferrer has accused Justin Baldoni of harassment over the subpoena request.
For the past several months, Baldoni and Blake Lively have been making headlines over their legal battle related to the filming of It Ends with Us, where Lively alleged that she experienced sexual harassment from Baldoni while making the film. Baldoni filed a countersuit in return, but it was eventually dismissed.
Why is Isabela Ferrer Accusing Justin Baldoni of Harassment?
According to People, Ferrer, who played young Lily Bloom in It Ends with Us, has accused Baldoni of harassment over the communications related to the legal battle with Lively.
Last August 12, Baldoni's legal team filed a motion claiming that Ferrer was unreachable and unresponsive when they filed a subpoena on her.
However, Ferrer's lawyers have filed a rebuttal where they claimed that Baldoni has "engaged in bad faith tactics" and alleged that the motion was filed "for improper purposes and with the aim of harassing" the actress.
They have also asked the court to deny Baldoni's motion and impose sanctions on him as a result of their alleged action.
After Lively's team subpoenaed Ferrer last February for communications relevant to her dispute with Baldoni, Ferrer sought legal help from Baldoni's Wayfarer Studios as part of an indemnification clause in her contract for the film.
However, Ferrer's team alleged that Baldoni's company "has not honored its obligations," and they agreed to help the actress if she could "confirm that she will ‘surrender control’" of her response and "not actually allowing Ms. Ferrer to provide the documents that reveal the true facts."
After Ferrer responded to Lively's subpoena and submitted the required documents, Baldoni and his team allegedly have "been improperly attempting to exert control over" and, with the new subpoena, he "made no effort to tailor the subpoena towards the production of new or different materials, demonstrating that the real aim of the Baldoni Subpoena, as well as the pending Motion, is to harass Ms. Ferrer."
What is Justin Baldoni's Reaction to Isabela Ferrer's Accusation?
So far, Baldoni has not responded to Ferrer's accusation against him and the claims regarding their communications on the legal battle.
Lively has also not commented on her co-star's recent legal move against Baldoni.
Ferrer's lawyers have claimed that the delayed negotiation on the indemnity was a "transparent attempt to put financial pressure on" the actress, and she "sought reasonable extensions of time from Lively to respond to the Lively Subpoena until the indemnity issue was resolved."
It is also unknown yet whether Ferrer will testify in the trial, which is scheduled to take place in March of next year.
