Will Smith is reportedly being eyed to be the subject of the next Netflix comedy roast special, but is he willing to be ridiculed in front of a global audience?
Last year, the streamer aired their first-ever roast special with football legend Tom Brady as their roastee. Many celebrities and Brady's friends were in attendance to ridicule him. The three-hour live broadcast ended up being a massive viewership success.
Since then, Netflix has been planning to do another roast special with another A-list celebrity and it looks like the Oscar winner might become the next roastee.
Will Smith Reportedly Approached by Netflix to Star in Next Roast Special
According to a recent report from Puck News, Will Smith has been informally approached by Netflix to potentially headline their next comedy roast special.
He is one of the celebrities that that streamer is currently in conversations with. Sources said that Smith has not declined the offer.
So far, neither Netflix nor Smith's representative have commented on the report.
While Smith has not agreed to star in the roast special, it has already drawn a lot of interest among fans considering that the actor has been involved in controversies in the last few years that could be discussed in the roast.
If he ends up agreeing to become the roastee, it is most likely that his infamous Oscars slap in early 2022 will be joked a lot during the night as well as the rumors of his tumultuous marriage with his wife Jada Pinkett Smith.
Will Smith's Music Comeback
Smith is currently focused on his music comeback as he is set to release his first album in 20 years with Based on a True Story.
The upcoming album will consist of 14 tracks including the lead single "Beautiful Scars" which already has a Matrix-inspired music video that was released last January.
In an interview earlier this year, Smith explained why he decided to finally release a new album again after 20 years.
"A well opened up inside of me, a well of understanding of art and pain... all kinds of things that I didn’t even know were in there. Then after the Oscars, that spiritual investigation continued and a whole world woke up inside that I didn’t even know was there," he said.
"Dreams, visions; parts of my inner landscape that I had no awareness of prior to three years ago. And that opened up this bubbling to share what I’m seeing and experiencing, to explore."
