As listed on MyAnimeList, the genre of the VTuber Legend anime is comedy with an otaku culture theme, so viewers should expect to laugh at the humor and running gags of the series that could poke fun at the otaku culture.
VTuber Legend is based on the Japanese light novel series of the same name, written by Nana Nanato and illustrated by Siokazunoko.
It centers around a 20-year-old amateur VTuber named Awayuki Kokorone, whose real name is Yuki Tanaka.
Awayuki is a Live-On streamer who aspires to capture the attention of viewers and rise through the ranks among her peers.
She's been streaming for three months, and her channel quickly became popular after she forgot to turn it off one night.
From her polite and ladylike image to her rowdy and drunk self, Awayuki accidentally revealed her true image to viewers!
This gave Awayuki a chance to become popular and collaborate with other famous talents, going so far as to play Sausage Legend with her favorite streamer!
So, Is VTuber Legend a Yuri Anime?
While a lot of anime websites don’t list VTuber Legend as a yuri anime, the official website of Kakuyomu, where the series originated, tagged VTuber Legend as a GL (girls' love) series, which means VTuber Legend is indeed a yuri series.
However, unlike other yuri anime which feature two characters as the main couple, VTuber Legend doesn’t seem to have a main couple because romance is not exactly the series' main focus.
Instead, VTuber Legend focuses on the daily life of Awayuki as a VTuber and a huge part of this includes showing her obvious interest in the other female VTubers in the series.
Awayuki would rather flirt with the other female VTubers, calling them cute and making other flirtatious remarks to get her point across, than toward male VTubers.
She would also suggest yuri collabs with other VTubers, showing how much knowledge she has about yuri tropes and clichés.
However, for a yuri anime fan who wants to see skinship between characters, VTuber Legend might not meet your expectations.
Regardless, VTuber Legend is a highly anticipated anime that yuri fans have been looking forward to since it was announced.
