There have been rumors that child actor Toby Woolf has been cast to play the new Harry Potter in the upcoming HBO series adaptation.

The alleged casting has made a lot of rounds online as the posts received huge engagement across social media platforms. Is it true that Woolf is the new Harry Potter? Let's explore below.

Is Toby Woolf the New Harry Potter in the HBO Series?

Despite what the rumors may have suggested, it is NOT true that Woolf has been cast to play Harry Potter in the upcoming HBO series.

It is also NOT true that Joshua Pickering will be playing Ron Weasley and Bronte Carmichael was cast as Hermione Granger.

Warner Bros. and HBO did NOT announce that Woolf, Pickering, and Carmichael have been cast to star as the main trio in the Harry Potter TV series.

The project is still in development with Francesca Gardiner attached to serve as the showrunner and Mark Mylod set to direct and executive produce. Harry Potter film series producer David Heyman will also be involved.

However, despite what the internet may suggest, there is no truth in Woolf's casting as Harry Potter, and take whatever you read online with a grain of salt.

Has HBO Already Cast the New Harry Potter?

As of the recent updates, Warner Bros. and HBO have not officially announced the main cast for the Harry Potter TV series.

In an interview last month, HBO chairman and CEO Casey Bloys revealed that the project is still in the writing process and they were preparing to start casting.

"Writers have started. [Director] Mark Mylod has started. The team, they’re hiring department heads, casting, and we’re off," he said.

Bloys also debunked the rumors on the alleged casting calls that the filming will begin this March.

He added, "We haven’t announced any [date]. I think they were talking about age [the young actors] will be in March, that doesn’t mean necessarily a production start date."

When asked about the target release window, Bloys teased, "Late ’26-’27. Writers are just getting started so it’s too soon to talk about airdate."

For now, you should stay tuned for any official casting news and updates on the highly-anticipated series.
