There’s a reason why Blumhouse keeps getting praised for paying close attention to the Five Nights at Freddy’s original source material, and easter eggs are a part of their work.

Did Five Nights at Freddy’s 2 Have a ‘Shadow Freddy’ Easter Egg? Director Breaks Silence
We hate to break it to you, but the Shadow Freddy easter egg doesn’t exist in the Five Nights at Freddy’s sequel. Instead, the director, Emma Tammi, confirmed there is a Shadow Bonnie sighting in the film.
“I know that there are things for a fact that have been incorporated into official lore after they were kind of generated and hypothesized about online,” the director told ScreenRant in a recent interview, calling fans and their involvement with the material a ‘really powerful thing.’ “So, it is incredible how there’s that communication and back and forth between the two.”

What the Shadow Animatronics Easter Egg Means for Five Nights at Freddy's 3

Easter eggs aren't just to keep the fun up for fans of the franchise; they're also meant to hint at what the next film has in store.
In this case, fans surmise that it might be time for the Shadow Animatronics to take their place.
Considering that the Shadow Animatronics were created when Charlotte Emily was murdered, which happened in the sequel, it's likely that the third film will explore more about the revenge-seeking marionette puppets.
For now, Five Nights at Freddy’s 2 is still in theaters. Catch the animatronics on the big screens while you still can.
