The Office spinoff series, The Paper, finally premiered on Peacock, with all 10 episodes of the first season available to binge-watch.
Fans are also wondering whether the series will be getting a second season, so that they can see more of the Toledo Truth-Teller staff’s antics around their office and the band of misfit characters that we’ve been following. Let’s explore what we know so far about the show’s future.
Is The Paper Getting a Second Season?

Fortunately, Peacock has already renewed The Paper for a second season, the day before its premiere.
The early renewal is a sign that the streamer has strong confidence, and it would allow the production crew to start preparing to film early and release the second season in the fall of next year.
Before the renewal announcement, co-showrunner Greg Daniels shared that he already had ideas for a second season.
“We definitely have ideas. We’ve been talking about stories for a possible Season 2, and it’ll be interesting to see what the audience thinks,” he said.
“We’ve gotten really good feedback from people inside the company and journalists and friends, but you never know what the broader world of Office fans are going to think of it.”
Pearlena Igbokwe, who is in charge of scripted programming on Peacock, also expressed her confidence in what Daniels and his team have done with The Paper.
“Having seen all the episodes, I think he’s done an incredible job. These are characters you just grow to love and appreciate what he’s doing in the show. I think they do an incredible job of landing the season. So I am very hopeful and optimistic that the audience will feel the same,” she said.
What is The Paper About?
The Paper follows a dying Midwestern newspaper and its publisher's efforts to revive it using volunteer reporters. Just like The Office, they are being followed by a documentary crew.
The cast includes Domhnall Gleeson, Sabrina Impacciatore, Chelsea Frei, Melvin Gregg, Gbemisola Ikumelo, Alex Edelman, Ramona Young, and Tim Key.
Oscar Nunez also returned to reprise the role of Oscar Martinez. He is reintroduced as one of the employees in the Toledo Truth-Teller. There is no word yet on whether the other The Office characters will also return.
