- Quick Answer: Donald Glover confirms the Community movie is currently being written, with the cast actively communicating, and production expected to begin as soon as schedules align.
Donald Glover recently shared an exciting update on the long-gestating Community movie that fans have been waiting for.
In the past few years, there have been attempts to do a movie continuation of the beloved sitcom to finally fulfill its "six seasons and a movie" prophecy. Production was finally supposed to take place in 2023, but it was indefinitely delayed due to the Hollywood labor strikes. Since then, fans have been patiently waiting for news on when it will finally happen.
Is the Community Movie Still in the Works?

Speaking recently with Entertainment Tonight, Donald Glover was asked for an update on the development of the Community movie, which has been delayed for years.
Fortunately, he confirmed that the project is still happening, and he continues to talk with his co-stars. He teased that the production will likely move forward soon.
"We were just on the text chain talking about it. We're working on it right now. I know everybody's been saying that for forever, but I swear to you, I'm not lying about this. I really think it's something that's going to happen soon," the actor said.
Glover has also shut down the notion that his busy schedule is the reason why the Community movie has been delayed.
"Everybody is hating on me on the internet, and it’s not me. They’re like, ‘We know that you’re the reason.’ Maybe I was last year — maybe — but not this time," he said.
So far, there are no details yet on whether they intend to roll the cameras later this year.
What to Expect in the Community Movie

So far, the plot details regarding the Community movie are still under wraps, but we can expect them to explore the lives of our favorite characters several years after the show ended. The series concluded in 2015.
The main cast, consisting of Joel McHale, Danny Pudi, Alison Brie, Gillian Jacobs, Jim Rash, Ken Jeong, Donald Glover, and Yvette Nicole Brown, are all expected to reprise their roles. Chevy Chase is the only cast member who will not return.
Series creator Dan Harmon and Andrew Guest wrote the screenplay. It will be released on Peacock, which is also the streaming home of all six seasons of the original series.
