Marcus was referring to Andy Muschietti, who is set to direct the Batman movie. However, despite the filmmaker remaining mum about the project, the DC Studios co-CEO James Gunn denied the claim.
“It doesn’t sound like something Andy would have said, but the project is in no way on hold,” he responded in a post by DC Film News on X.
While it remains to be seen what is really happening behind the scenes, fans may need to patiently wait for The Brave and the Bold to finally move forward.
Does the Warner Bros. and Paramount Merger Affect Batman’s DCU Debut?
Paramount Skydance acquired Warner Bros. Discovery for $111 billion in February 2026. But despite the deal having cleared regulators in nearly 70 countries, per ComicBook, the transaction remains frozen.
According to reports, a coalition of dozens of state attorneys general, led by California, sued to block the merger on antitrust grounds. Paramount subsequently agreed to postpone the closing until five days after the trial or June 2027, whichever comes first.
