Over six years have passed since the announcement that Marvel Studios was rebooting its very own Blade movie, and while Wesley Snipes reprised his original role in Deadpool and Wolverine, there have been no other updates since then, so what's the deal?

Upcoming MCU star Mia Goth has recently spoken up about it. Here's what she had to say.

In a new interview with Elle, Mia Goth, who was cast in the Blade reboot on April 12, 2023, was asked if she had any updates about the project. The outlet, however, said that "She has no update on the film's beleaguered production."

Meanwhile, Goth noted, "It's for the best that it's taken the time that it has. They want to do it right," and considering the neutral response means MCU fans should still hold on tight in hopes of the reboot continuing its development soon!

Mahershala Ali's Blade voice made a cameo in 2021's Eternals, but his reboot iteration of the hero has yet to appear in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Marvel Zombies, one of the franchise's latest animation projects, also featured an alternative version of Blade, so don't fret.

Goth is reportedly set to play a vampire villain named Lilith, "who wanted the blood of Blade's daughter." In Marvel Comics, she's described to be the powerful and ancient Mother of Demons.

She has also had powerful historical alliances with supernatural figures like Mephisto. And with Mephisto soon making his debut, it's no wonder that the Blade movie remains relevant on the roster.

Bassam Tariq was initially set to helm Ali's MCU entry; however, he ended up departing from the project on September 27, 2022, when The Hollywood Reporter revealed that "continued shifts" in their production schedule were one of the many reasons why he chose to make his exit.

On June 12, 2024, Yann Demange, who was hired to replace Tariq, ended up stepping down, too.

As noted by The Hollywood Reporter on June 20, 2024, the movie's development revealed that there had been many versions of the script. They were torn between portraying Blade in the 1920s or setting it in the present so it could catch up to the Multiverse and its ongoing worldbuilding.

For now, things are unclear where the Blade movie really stands, but as Goth mentioned, it's better to make sure everything's just right before setting anything in motion. Stay tuned for more updates on this story.
