The Batman Part II director Matt Reeves took to X to announce the "surprise" returns and grand additions, which include Jayme Lawson as Bella Réal, a grassroots politician and mayor-elect of Gotham City, and Gil Perez-Abraham as Officer Martinez, a beat cop in the Gotham City Police Department; two relatively minor characters in The Batman. But what about Sebastian Stan?

Recently revealed and confirmed via a Deadline interview, Stan, who is best known for playing Bucky Barnes, aka the Winter Soldier, in the MCU franchise, is expected to become one of Batman's rogues. Stan will be playing Harvey Dent, aka Two-Face, a villain who made his live-action debut in 2008's The Dark Knight.

Despite its comic book origins, Reeves' words of promising to "reimagine the villain" in the best way possible got fans thinking that there's a chance the rumored Mr. Freeze appearance might not be a rumor at all, but a secret yet to be unveiled.

This comes after Reeves shared teasers of Gotham in the snow, and another with the hashtag on "snow tires, which fans found too coincidental not to refer to Mr. Freeze's appearance.

While it remains to be seen whether Stan's Dent role will actually turn out to be Mr. Freeze, Stan's history of playing the big bad during Winter already has fans on the edge of their seats, hoping their theory about one of Gotham's most notorious villains is true.

Stan described The Batman Part II as a "challenge", as the sequel is a "really ambitious movie." The MCU star expressed his excitement for finally getting the chance to work with Matt Reeves, since he's been one of the actor's favorites "for a long, long time."

"I really think it's going to blow people away. It's going to surprise a lot of people, I think, too," Stan told the outlet, "Obviously, there's a reason why Batman's been re-occuring for so many years, and why so many kids love Spider-Man."

Plot details for The Batman Part II are still being kept under wraps, but with Reeves manning the wheel, one thing's for sure: fans should be expecting the unexpected. In this case, Harvey Dent's comic book origins may not be the same story Reeves will be adapting for the big screen.

Considering that The Batman Part II will reportedly spotlight the Dent family: Harvey, his wife, Gilda, and the District Attorney's father, Christopher, the Caped Crusader is looking at coming up against the likes of Two-Face, Hush, the Halloween Killer, and Phantasm.

The Batman Part II is slated to release in theaters on October 1, 2027. Stay tuned for more updates!
