  • Quick Answer: Peter Parker does not appear in Spider-Noir; instead, the series follows an older Ben Reilly, a creative twist the showrunners promise to explain.

With Spider-Noir finally out on Prime Video, one of the questions that fans are wondering is whether Peter Parker has an appearance in the new series.

Nicolas Cage stars as the live-action Spider-Man Noir (aka The Spider) in the recently premiered series. However, instead of Peter Parker, the mantle is taken by Ben Reilly, who is usually portrayed as a clone of Peter Parker in the comics.

With this major change, fans are wondering why they made such a creative decision for this TV adaptation and whether an appearance of Peter Parker is still in play.

Peter Parker does not have any appearance in Spider-Noir, or at least in the first season. The series is more focused on building up Ben Reilly as the main hero and the identity behind The Spider.

In an interview with Esquire, showrunner Oren Uziel explained why they decided not to have Peter Parker take the mantle of the titular hero in the series and opted for Ben Reilly.

"Peter Parker feels very synonymous with a high school kid. Boyish. On his way up," he said.

Executive producer Chris Miller added, "This character's very different from the Peter Parker from the movies. He's older and jaded, and not afraid to punch a guy in the face drunkenly," while executive producer Phil Lord also noted, "He already had his Chinatown disillusionment moment that happened years and years ago."

However, they also teased that there's a mystery surrounding Ben Reilly's identity that will be explored in the series.

"I have to be coy about the reasons, because you'll find out," Lord said. Miller also added, "The reason he's named Ben Reilly is explained. We’ll leave it at that."

Some fans have also speculated that the complicated character rights issues may have factored into the decision, but the executive producers did not comment on that possible reason.
