The moment Okkotsu Yuta was introduced, fans have been intrigued by his power. He was described as a special grade Jujutsu Sorcerer, which is the same level as Satoru Gojo, and is known for having immense cursed energy. He was also the protagonist in the series’ prequel which made fans curious if Okkotsu Yuta is stronger than Yuji Itadori.
To be fair on Yuji’s side, Satoru Gojo himself said that he has the potential to be on the same level as Yuta Okkotsu. He was gifted with superhuman strength and can easily master new abilities from his cursed energy. He can even hold Sukuna without experiencing ill effects. But in the end, who is the stronger protagonist?

Is Okkotsu Yuta Stronger Than Yuji Itadori?
Unfortunately, it is not easy to determine if Yuta is indeed stronger than Yuji considering that they are total opposites. In chapter 140, the two were able to meet face to face as Yuta was assigned to execute Yuji. The two had the first confrontation of power and were surprised that they can perfectly counter one another even if they try to improve their power against one another.
Based on Yuji’s analysis, Yuta does not have much power over him, unlike him. What Yuta has is an immense amount of cursed energy. He wins his battles because of this and not because of his strength or power, which are the two things that Yuji is known for.
The only way to know which protagonist is stronger now is through their fight. While Yuji put up a good fight against the special grade sorcerer, Yuji was executed after Rika helped Yuta win the battle. This basically means that despite their differences and skills, Yuta is indeed stronger than Yuji.
Yuji still has a long way to go but based on the progression of the manga, Yuta has the upper hand. He is a skilled special grade sorcerer after all. Will they ever face one another in the future? We are not yet sure. Jujutsu Kaisen is still ongoing with no signs of ending anytime soon.
