Macaulay Culkin recently opened up about the possibility of reprising his iconic role of Kevin McCallister in a new Home Alone legacy sequel.
As Hollywood is currently doubling down on rebooting or doing legacy sequels to some of their classic films, fans have been clamoring for a new Home Alone installment that would bring back Culkin as a grown-up version of his iconic character. While no official plans have been made yet, the hope from fans continues, especially as Culkin has been active in the acting scene in recent years.
Is Macaulay Culkin Open to Star in a Home Alone Legacy Sequel?

Speaking recently at his A Nostalgic Night With Macaulay Culkin tour (via EW), Culkin addressed the possibility of reprising the role of Kevin McCallister in a new Home Alone sequel.
Fortunately, he revealed that he is not totally against the idea of starring in a potential sequel, but it's still dependent on the concept.
"I wouldn't be completely allergic to it. It would have to be just right," he said.
Culkin also shared his idea on how Kevin McCallister's story could continue years later, where he will be depicted as "either a widower or a divorcee."
"I'm raising a kid and all that stuff. I'm working really hard and I'm not really paying enough attention and the kid is kind of getting miffed at me and then I get locked out," he said. "[He] won't let me in." Instead of Kevin's son defending their home against Harry and Marv, "he's the one setting traps for me."
Culkin explained that "the house is some sort of metaphor for our relationship, [serving as a way to] 'get let back into his heart' kind of deal. That's the closest elevator pitch that I have. I'm not completely allergic to it, the right thing."
However, the actor clarified that he has not been officially approached yet by the studio about the possibility of doing a new sequel.
What is the Future of the Home Alone Franchise?
So far, Disney and 20th Century Studios have no official plans to do another Home Alone installment. The most recent film, Home Sweet Home Alone, was released in 2021 as a Disney+ original film.
It focused on a new set of characters, but the same concept of a kid setting traps against a pair of home invaders. Devin Ratray reprised the role of Buzz McCallister from the first two films in a cameo appearance.
However, the film was panned by fans and critics, and it was heavily slammed for being a rehash of the original movie and for being an unnecessary installment.
