Jimmy Kimmel recently confirmed that he has obtained Italian citizenship as a result of the political uncertainty in the United States.
The famed late-night host has become one of the prominent voices calling out the Trump administration in the current second term. While it remains to be seen whether it will affect the future of his show, Donald Trump has notably lashed out against Kimmel on several occasions and suggested that he might follow Stephen Colbert's path soon.
Did Jimmy Kimmel Already Obtain an Italian Citizenship Amid the Trump Presidency?

In an interview on The Sarah Silverman Podcast, Kimmel revealed that he had already obtained Italian citizenship as a result of the ongoing political tension in the United States under the Trump presidency.
"I did get Italian citizenship. What’s going on [in the Trump presidency] is as bad as you thought it was gonna be. It’s so much worse; it’s just unbelievable. I feel like it’s probably even worse than he would like it to be," he shared with the comedian.
Kimmel follows the footsteps of other comedians such as Rosie O'Donnell and Ellen DeGeneres, who fled to another country when Trump's second term of presidency started.
However, the late-night host also clarified that he doesn't hold any grudges with anyone who supported Trump during the election last year.
"Now you see these clips of Joe Rogan saying, ‘Why is he doing this? Why are you deporting people?’ And people go, ‘F*** you! You supported him.’ I don’t buy into that," Kimmel said.
"The door has to stay open. If you want to change your mind, that’s so hard to do. If you want to admit you were wrong, that is so hard and so rare to do. You are welcome [to do so]."
What is the Future of Jimmy Kimmel Live?
Following the cancellation of The Late Show with Stephen Colbert last month, fans have been wondering whether Jimmy Kimmel Live might follow.
Fortunately, Disney and ABC have not announced any plans to end the show's run, which is their only late-night entertainment program.
Kimmel is currently contracted to do the late-night show until 2026, but it remains to be seen whether he will be extending his deal with the network in the coming months, as the negotiating period is set to begin soon.
