With a sequel to The Social Network currently in development, fans have been wondering whether Jesse Eisenberg will return to reprise his Oscar-nominated role as Mark Zuckerberg.
The follow-up to the 2010 classic will examine the negative effects of Facebook on society today and how widespread misinformation may have contributed to several significant events, including the January 6, 2021, coup attempt. Aaron Sorkin, who won an Oscar for writing the first film, is set to return as the writer and also serve as director of the project.
Is Jesse Eisenberg Returning as Mark Zuckerberg in The Social Network Sequel?

So far, there is no confirmation yet of Eisenberg reprising the role of Mark Zuckerberg in The Social Network sequel.
According to a recent update from Deadline, "it’s unclear where things stand" right now regarding Eisenberg's potential return. After all, Mark Zuckerberg is expected to have a key role in the story.
However, Sorkin is already eyeing two actors who will potentially play two major roles in the sequel: recent Oscar winner Mikey Madison and The Bear star Jeremy Allen White.
Reports have confirmed that Madison and White are currently the top choices for the respective roles of Frances Haugen, a data engineer-turned-whistleblower, and Jeff Horowitz, the journalist who broke the so-called Facebook files.
So far, no formal offers have been given to them, but they are the actors that Sorkin would like to cast if ever the film officially moves forward.
What to Expect in The Social Network Sequel?
The Social Network Part II is still in development under Sony, and it is unknown when it will likely begin production. No release date has also been set.
The film will be based on Horowitz's article "The Facebook Files" in The Wall Street Journal, which exposed the inner workings of Facebook and the harm that it caused, including misinformation and violence.
David Fincher, who directed the first film, is not expected to be involved in any capacity. It is also unknown whether other cast members will also be recruited to reprise their roles in the sequel.
For now, fans should stay tuned for more news and updates regarding the development of the sequel.
