With all episodes of the first season of the new Prime Video series Elle finally out, fans are now wondering whether they should expect another season of the Legally Blonde prequel.

Elle Woods is back on our screens through a new TV series that tackles her high school years and the events before we met her in the first Legally Blonde movie. The reception from the audience so far has been positive as they embrace seeing the backstory of the beloved character and hope to see more of it in future seasons.

Fortunately for fans, Prime Video already renewed Elle for a second season earlier this year before the series even premiered. Not only that, production has already wrapped, so there should be no major gap in its release.

The first season finale ended on a cliffhanger for the young Elle Woods. After a brief trip to Los Angeles convinced the titular character that her heart belonged in Seattle, she rushed back for her school's end-of-semester celebration to support her friend Liz's performance.

The night took a messy turn, however, when Elle ran into Dustin. The two shared a kiss, unaware that Miles, the rival for Elle's affections, was watching the heartbreak unfold from the sidelines.

In an interview with Deadline, showrunner Laura Kittrell promised that the cliffhanger will be resolved in the second season, as it will be picked up immediately when it returns next year.

"We pick up in Season 2 right after Season 1 ends. So the cliffhangers that we’ve left you with in Season 1, you will not have to wait long to see how those are going to be resolved," she said.

However, not every cast member is expected to return in the second season, as Danielle Chand, who plays Shannon, teased to Us Magazine that she won't show up next season after her character left Seattle.

"I’ve made story lines in my head [of how she can return]. My hope for Shannon is that she is just hanging out with all of our friends. If there’s a graduation or like something that involves Kimberly, I would love Shannon just to keep popping in," she said.

What Is Elle About?

Elle follows Elle Woods before she was a fish-out-of-water at Harvard. We meet her in 1995 as a fish in the tumultuous waters of high school, where she encounters tricky friendships, forbidden romance, and questionable fashion choices.

Through it all, Elle uses her family as a touchstone and forms an even tighter bond with her mother, proving that they can get through anything life throws their way as long as they have each other. With each challenge she faces, Elle grows closer to the Elle Woods we know and love today.

The cast includes Lexi Minetree, June Diane Raphael, Tom Everett Scott, Jacob Moskovitz, Gabrielle Policano, Chandler Kinney, Zac Looker, and Amy Pietz. Recurring cast members include Brad Harder, Chloe Wepper, Danielle Chand, David Burtka, James Van Der Beek, Jessica Belkin, Kayla Maisonet, Lisa Yamada, Logan Shroyer, Matt Oberg, and Sharon Taylor.

All episodes of the first season are currently available to stream on Prime Video.
