MAPPA Produces Bucchigiri TV Anime for Winter 2024

During the 2023 MAPPA stage event, it was unveiled that MAPPA will work on the TV anime Bucchigiri, with director Hiroko Utsumi (Banana Fish, Free!, Sk8 the Infinity) at the helm.

The plot of Bucchigiri revolves around Tomoshibi Arajin, a transfer student who finds himself involved in delinquent fights with squad teams competing against each other for the top spot.

Arajin has no interest in fighting, and he only wants to lead a normal school life with a cute and beautiful girlfriend as a bonus. The only thing Arajin dreams about is losing his virginity to the girl he loves.

In the past, Arajin trained with his childhood friend to become Honki people.

Honki refers to those people who threw away the sword, put down the helmet, and adorned nothing other than Honki.

They devote themselves fully to reaching the top, but that was ancient history for Arajin after moving out of town.

However, Arajin’s fate has already been determined since he unleashed Senya the Majin from an abandoned shrine.

Senya wants to merge with him in the hopes of finding a heart that doesn’t flee in the face of danger or on the brink of death.

Arajin may look gentle and wimpy to most people, but in reality, he is strong, brave, and super tough!

Just ask Arajin’s childhood friend, Matakara Asamine, for his detailed account of Arajin’s childhood feats!

No, Bucchigiri is not a remake or reboot of a classic anime show. There’s a samurai anime called Bucchigire! (Shine On! Bakumatsu Bad Boys), but they are not related at all, so don’t confuse the two.

Bucchigiri and Bucchigire are two completely opposite anime, but it’s understandable that some viewers may think that the new Bucchigiri anime is a remake of the previous one.

In other words, Bucchigiri is an original anime with an original storyline.

The script is provided by none other than Taku Kishimoto (Monster Strike the Movie, Pokemon: Hisuian Snow, Silver Spoon Season 2), who drew inspiration from A Thousand and One Nights and other yankee series.
