Mike Myers recently teased a new update on the possibility of making a fourth Austin Powers movie as fans continue to clamor for another installment.

It's been more than two decades now since the third film was released, and there is still hope to this day for a fourth movie to happen at some point. Considering that Myers has been active again in recent years and is reprising the voice role of Shrek, fans are wondering whether a new Austin Powers movie will be made soon.

In a recent guest appearance on Trevor Noah’s World Cup Watch Party, Trevor Noah casually asked Mike Myers a fan question about whether we are "ever going to see an Austin Powers 4."

The comedian simply responded, "Yes!"

Noah was surprised by Myers' answer as he quipped, "Wow, that was a quick yes."

Myers recently reprised his iconic role of Dr. Evil for a new Verizon commercial, reuniting with original Austin Powers castmates Rob Lowe, Seth Green, and Mindy Sterling, and directed by Jay Roach, who directed all three movies.

The ad features Dr. Evil attempting to launch "Menace Mobile," a scheme that quickly fizzles out when his henchmen point out that complicated cell phone plans are already the industry norm. However, Verizon positions itself as the exception to this rule, using the spot to promote its new Simplicity Plan and shake off the reputation of being just another "diabolical phone company."

In a 2024 interview, Myers expressed interest in revisiting the Austin Powers franchise, where he said that there are "absolutely" more stories to tell.

The History of the Austin Powers Franchise

The 1997 comedic classic Austin Powers: International Man of Mystery starred Mike Myers as a groovy 1960s spy cryogenically frozen for 30 years, who awakens in the 1990s to battle his ultimate nemesis, Dr. Evil (also played by Myers).

Serving as a brilliant spoof of the James Bond franchise and swinging '60s spy culture, the film became both a massive box office hit and a sweeping cultural phenomenon. This immense success spawned two wildly popular sequels: 1999’s The Spy Who Shagged Me and 2002’s Goldmember.

Collectively, the Austin Powers trilogy cemented itself as a defining cultural touchstone, grossing well over half a billion dollars worldwide and inspiring countless imitations, parodies, and spinoffs.

Although more than two decades have passed since the release of Goldmember, the franchise's comedic legacy remains vibrant. Myers even revived his iconic Dr. Evil character for a Saturday Night Live sketch last year to lampoon Elon Musk.
