The MCU's Multiverse adventure wouldn't be complete without Fantastic Four and X-Men, which makes sense why fans are on the edge of their seats awaiting news about James Marsden's Cyclops and whether or not he will return to his alter-ego. Well, here's what the man himself had to say.

Will James Marsden's Cyclops Finally Make It Into the MCU?

Since Hugh Jackman's Wolverine crossed the MCU threshold through Deadpool and Wolverine, who's to say the franchise won't do it again? Back in March, Marvel Studios dropped shocking news that several X-Men actors will come to play in Avengers: Doomsday—one of whom happens to be Cyclops.

A new interview with Vanity Fair had the actor disclosing the truth: Oh, he's back on, baby!

"I'm getting a little long in the tooth to put on the superhero costume," Marsden explained to the outlet, adding that he had kept his excitement over the last 20 years under wraps, considering his character was dead, "Well, maybe not."

Cyclops died in X-Men: The Last Stand, when Jean Grey was possessed by the Phoenix force, disintegrated him with her telekinetic powers. Only, Cyclops was brought back to life when Days of Future Past reset his timeline and thus, erased his death.

"I'm going to have a tough time struggling to get into costume if they waited a couple more years. So it's been a blast. It really has," Marsden continued, "It's been a nice little homecoming to a role that really put me on the map."

He recounted how Cyclops was the "first real event project" he was a part of, a beloved character at that, "And so to step back into that role was pretty special."

The MCU never shied away from bringing back the dead to life—from Wolverine to the Red Skull to Gamora, and most especially, Robert Downey Jr.'s return as Doctor Doom! Though it remains to be seen if he is Doctor Doom or a variant in the Multiverse.

With Cyclops, one of the most popular X-Men characters of all time, the MCU might become even more unstoppable.

Keep in mind that we'll likely be seeing Thunderbolts, some of the original Avengers who are still around, the young Avengers team, the first family, and the X-Men face Victor von Doom and stop him from destroying the universe. It'll be quite the challenge to see how it'll all unfold, but that's best reserved for theaters.

As of writing, Avengers: Doomsday is set to premiere on the big screens on December 18, 2026! Stay tuned for more updates on this story.
