Despite criticisms against Robert F. Kennedy Jr., Chris Pratt revealed that he is a fan of Kennedy and even spoke about their close bond.

Kennedy has faced backlash for promoting false and misleading claims about vaccines. He also dropped his independent bid for the 2024 U.S. presidential election and later endorsed Donald Trump.

But amid the controversy, Pratt maintains a good relationship with Kennedy, who is also a relative of his wife, Katherine Schwarzenegger—she is the granddaughter of Eunice Kennedy Shriver, the sister of Robert F. Kennedy.

On Bill Maher’s Club Random podcast, Pratt discussed the nature of his relationship with Kennedy.

“I've spent a number of occasions hanging out with him, just in a strictly family dinner kind of vibe, and I really got along with him well,” he said. “I think he's great. I think he's funny. I like him. I love him.”

Acknowledging the controversies surrounding the now U.S. Secretary of Health and Human Services, the Guardians of the Galaxy star described politics as a “nasty business.”

He added that this experience showed him “how the person you are can be such a contrast to the person that people are being told you are,” referring to his personal knowledge of Kennedy versus public perception.

Addressing the controversies surrounding Kennedy, Pratt explained that jumping on the bandwagon with the “most divisive president ever,” like Trump, would make Kennedy appear to be a “terrible” person.

“So I don't know what to believe. It's not like I sit with Bobby and go, ‘So hey, let's talk about this,’” he continued. “We're just playing cards or playing Mafia or having fun or having dinner.”

The 46-year-old actor added that there’s no way he could “pick up” Kennedy’s mind to know which of the things said about him were true.

With that in mind, he assumed that “none of them” are real and said he wishes Kennedy well for the most part.

Kennedy launched the Make America Healthy Again initiative after being appointed by Trump. He aims to reduce toxic substances in food and improve public health policies.

So despite the hate toward Trump, Pratt wanted to distance himself from the animosity and would never “react negatively to any achievements from his administration.”

“Let’s be sensible. There are certain things that would be beneficial. I want all of them to achieve success,” he continued.

Pratt even had the support of Maher in this case. “I love him [RFK Jr.]. I may not see eye to eye on everything, but I agree with the general viewpoint that toxicity is what makes us ill,” he said.

He even praised Kennedy for his principles and reputable environmental advocacy even before entering politics.
