Jujutsu Kaisen, Gege Akutami’s top-selling Shonen Jump manga, concluded in September 2024, leading to a lot of discussion. While some appreciated the happy resolution, others felt the pacing could have been handled better.

However, with the third season still in development, there's much more to expect from the franchise. Chief Animation Director Souta Yamazaki recently shared a drawing on social media showing the manga’s final moments involving two key characters.

Read on if you want to know more about it, that is, if you don’t mind getting spoiled.

How Will Jujutsu Kaisen Anime End?

Warning: For those who haven’t read the final arc of the Jujutsu Kaisen manga, there are spoilers ahead.

Jujutsu Kaisen’s final arc is what many expected, hinted at all the way back in the first chapter of the series, with a showdown between Yuji and the King of Curses, Ryomen Sukuna, serving as its climax.

It’s still unclear if every detail of the last saga will be faithfully adapted into the anime or which season will mark the anime’s conclusion. What we do know, based on Souta Yamazaki’s recent tweet on his X account, is that fans are already being teased about Yuji and Sukuna’s climactic battle.

Jujutsu Kaisen’s final saga, the Shinjuku Showdown arc, centers on Sukuna’s quest to become a calamity that brings chaos. It begins with him killing the unsealed Gojo Satoru, triggering an all-out raid by the sorcerers against him.

But it’s not that simple for the sorcerers. Sukuna isn’t called the King of Curses without reason, wielding immense cursed energy and cursed techniques powerful enough to disrupt the fabric of space.

One of his abilities allows him to reincarnate once. In the image posted by the animation director, Sukuna appears in his true form after reincarnation, facing Yuji.

Even with Sukuna at the height of his powers and still using Megumi Fushiguro as his vessel, Yuji unleashes the devastating Black Flash, ultimately defeating Sukuna and saving Megumi.

Yamazaki’s decision to share the image may not only be a way to excite fans but also a signal that preparations for the final arc’s showdown are already underway. It might even surpass what was depicted in the manga.

It’s been more than a year since Season 2 of Jujutsu Kaisen ended, and with how the intense story unfolded and the action-packed battles resulted in several unexpected deaths, it’s fair to say fans are already eager for what comes next in Season 3.

Of course, its overwhelming success suggests the wait for the next season won’t be too long.

Thankfully, Jump Festa 2025 answered fans' questions about the upcoming season’s production with a teaser visual.

While the visual doesn’t reveal much beyond confirming the adaptation of the Culling Game Arc, this update hinting at a possible release in late 2025 or 2026 is enough to keep fans excited.
