The new movie may not be out yet, but fans (at least, those with deep pockets) can look forward to this impressive Madoka Magica merch, as the Japanese Lolita fashion brand NyaNya recently revealed two official Madoka Magica dresses.

These two dresses are inspired by the iconic outfits of the anime’s two main characters.

While it’s not the most accurate recreation of their magical girl clothes for cosplayers, it’s a must-have for fans into Lolita fashion.

Of course, given the level of detail, these dresses likely won’t come cheap, at least when compared to typical anime apparel.

NyaNya Recreates Madoka and Homura’s Outfits in Lolita Style

NyaNya may not be the most well-known brand internationally, but it has a dedicated fanbase in Lolita fashion circles, especially in Japan.

After all, the Lolita subculture is still very much alive in Japan given how it originated there.

Even though Puella Magi Madoka Magica isn’t exactly a Lolita anime, the magical girl outfits of Madoka Kaname and Homura Akemi look great in this style.

The new NyaNya dresses were revealed in the Rococo's Closet official X (formerly Twitter) account. For reference, Rococo’s Closet is an online marketplace that sells Lolita fashion pieces from various Japanese brands.

First up is the Madoka dress, which recreates her signature pink and white magical girl outfit. While it’s a different take given how many frilly design elements there are, it’s still a fairly faithful recreation of her dress.

Of course, the second dress is based on Homura Akemi’s outfit.

What’s interesting though is the Lolita version is wildly different from the original, as it takes the form of a longer frilly dress instead of a more sailor uniform-style outfit.

Still, it’s an eye-catching dress that should be right up the alley of Lolita fashion lovers. Plus, these should be great to wear for a screening of the Walpurgisnacht: Rising movie when it gets released.

Madoka Magica Lolita Dresses Set for May 2024 Release

For now, the new Madoka Magica dress collection will be available to order in May 2024, though there’s no specific date yet when orders will open.

Because these are detailed pieces, it will likely take a while before they get shipped. As with other anime merch, expect these to take months before they get released.

As for their prices, there’s no word yet on specific pricing. Taking a look at the Rococo’s Closet online shop though, the official dress collabs with Sanrio are priced at 22,300 JPY (around 143 USD).

Thus, it’s likely that the Madoka Magica dresses will also be priced in the same range.
