Valerie Cherish explained in the episode that Mickey died during the early days of the COVID-19 pandemic. She told the news to her current hairdresser, Tommy Tomlin, as they reminisced about the late character.

During an interview with Deadline at the SXSW Festival, co-creator Michael Patrick King admitted that Lisa Kudrow was initially hesitant to do a third season as she didn't want to proceed without Morris.

For the third season, Valerie decided to star in a new sitcom that was entirely written by AI, amidst the ongoing existential crisis in Hollywood, and participated in a strike beforehand.
