Rachel Zegler reflected on the backlash that she faced from starring in the live-action remake of Snow White.

The film was a massive box office flop when it was released in theaters last March. Some reports partly blamed Zegler as one of the reasons why it failed, but fans of the actress have also defended her and criticized the trolls who have been attacking her social media.

In an interview with i-D Magazine, Zegler opened up about the challenges that she faced from the Snow White backlash and revealed that she sought help from her psychiatrist to overcome the issue.

"My f****** psychiatrist has seen me through all of it. [She reminded me,] ‘What you’re going through isn’t normal.' That sentence did such wonders for me in multiple situations in my life," she said.

The actress also admitted that she started taking medicine for anxiety, and felt that it was the right decision.

"[It] was truly a game changer, because I just wasn’t functioning. And I wanted to function in a way that made me feel confident in the way I was moving through the world," she said.

Zegler has also become conscious of how she should be reacting to the things that are happening around her.

"I think a victim mindset is a choice, and I don’t choose it. I also don’t choose nastiness in the face of it. I don’t choose negativity in the face of it," she said.

"I choose positivity and light and happiness. And I do believe at times, happiness is absolutely a choice, and every day I wake up and I think I’m very lucky to live the life I live."

What is Rachel Zegler's Latest Project?

Following the release of Snow White last March, Zegler returned to the stage and is currently starring in Jamie Lloyd's West End revival of Evita.

"I was really dying to do it, my whole life, and I was supposed to do a production of it a while ago that just kind of fizzled out and never happened," Zegler explained.

One of the viral moments from the production is Zegler singing "Don't Cry for Me Argentina" in the outdoor balcony of the London Palladium.

Fans are divided on whether the creative choice was a gimmick or not, considering that paying audiences have to watch the iconic scene inside, while the public can watch it for free. Regardless, Zegler's vocal performance received strong praise from fans.
