The season 3 premiere episode of Euphoria paid tribute to its late stars, Angus Cloud and Eric Dane, who both passed away before the show's return
After a four-year hiatus, the hit HBO series came back with the long-awaited third season. One of the questions fans have been wondering is how it will address the deaths of Cloud and Dane, and what kind of tribute they have in store for them.
Here's how the show's third season premiere acknowledges the passing of the two stars.
How Euphoria Season 3 Premiere Paid Tribute to Angus Cloud and Eric Dane
At the end of the season 3 premiere episode of Euphoria, after the credits, there were tribute cards to Angus Cloud, Eric Dane, and producer Kevin Turen, who all passed away between the release of the second and third seasons.
During the red carpet premiere last week, showrunner Sam Levinson already hinted that the new season will commemorate "those who we lost."
"Some people ask why it took so long between seasons two and three. There were obvious factors — the strikes, trying to make a schedule work with our very in-demand cast, but the real time was in trying to figure out how to find a way to pay respect to those who we lost," he said.
Cloud, who played Fezco in the first two seasons, passed away in July 2023 at the age of 25 due to "acute intoxication."
In the season 3 premiere episode, it was revealed that Fezco is still alive somewhere in the show's world. He is serving a 30-year sentence in prison and misses Lexi.
Meanwhile, Dane, who plays Cal, managed to film scenes for the third season last year before his condition worsened. He is expected to make appearances in the later episodes. He passed away last February following his battle with ALS.
Kevin Turen, who served as an executive producer in the first two seasons, passed away in November 2023 due to acute cardiac dysfunction and hypertrophic cardiomyopathy.
