What is House of the Dragon About?
If you are familiar with Game of Thrones, you surely remember the iconic character Daenerys Targaryen, the Mother of Dragons, and her relentless pursuit of the Iron Throne.
Meanwhile, House of the Dragon takes us back almost two centuries in Westerosi history to when House Targaryen reigned supreme.
The series dives into the era of King Viserys I, the fifth ruler of the Targaryen dynasty, focusing on the complexities surrounding his succession and the aftermath of his decision to name his daughter, Rhaenyra, as his heir.
What Characters Are Joining House of the Dragon season 2?
Here are the new characters who will be joining the existing cast of the series in House of the Dragon season 2.
- Alyn of Hull: Abubakar Salim has been roped in to play Alyn of Hull. He is a sailor within the Velaryon fleet who participated in the Stepstones campaign.
- Hugh the Hammer: Kieran Bew is set to portray Hugh the Hammer in season 2. Hugh lives on Dragonstone Island during the Dance of the Dragons.
- Cheese: He fulfills the duties of a servant within the Red Keep in Dance of the Dragons. Cheese is played by Mark Stobbart.
- Blood: He is a member of the City Watch of King’s Landing and is played by Sam C. Wilson.
- Ulf: Tom Bennett is portraying Ulf in season 2. Ulf transitions from a dragonseed to a dragonrider during the Targaryen war.
- Ser Rickard Thorne: Played by Vincent Regan, Ser Rickard Thorne served as a member of the Kingsguard throughout the reigns of Kings Viserys I and Aegon II Targaryen.
- Ser Gwayne Hightower: Portrayed by Freddie Fox, Ser Gwayne Hightower is the son of Otto Hightower, played by Rhys Ifans.
- Ser Simon Strong: Played by Simon Russell Beale, Ser Simon Strong serves as the Castellan of Harrenhal.
- Alys Rivers: Gayle Rankin is set to play the role of Alys and she is a healer and resident of Harrenhal.
House of the Dragon season 2 is set to premiere on HBO and Max on June 16, 2024.
