Higehiro: After Being Rejected, I Shaved and Took in a High School Runaway, or Higehiro for short, recently premiered with its debut episodes and it has already captivated a lot with its story in just one episode. The Project No.9 animated series, Higehiro, is based on the pages of the light novel series of the same name by Shimesaba with the illustrations of booota which is published in Kadokawa's Kakuyomu and later in Kadokawa Sneaker Bunko imprint. It also has a shōnen manga series by the same author with the illustrations of Imaru Adachi published in Kadokawa Shoten's shōnen manga magazine Monthly Shōnen Ace. Both are published in English by One Peace Books.
The story follows Yoshida, a 26-year-old employee in a major IT company, who meets Sayu, a high school girl who ran away, as he was heading home after he drank his sorrow following the rejection of his crush who he courted for five years. Sayu tells him that they could sleep together grated he would let her stay with him and Yoshida was adamant at first but gave in later on.

What happened in Higehiro Episode 1?
Higehiro Episode 1, The Teenage Girl Beneath the Lamplight, introduced us to Yoshida and how he confessed one fateful weekend to his crush, Airi Goto. Yoshida gets rejected and realized he has been in unrequited love for all those five years only to get heartbroken. This led him to a drink after work with his colleague Hashimoto.
Yoshida decides to head home and he saw a girl sitting on the side of the street who is drunk with hebereke. Her name is Sayu and she ran from home. Yoshida decided to stay with her and bring her to an inn where they both hit the sack for the night. Asleep, Yoshida says he wanted a miso soup made by a woman. He is pained with a broken heart even in his sleep.
The next day, it was a Sunday morning and Yoshida woke up to a sumptuous scent of miso soup. It was made by Sayu. This is how their story begins.
