Among the main cast of Harry Potter, Emma Watson was one of the most candid voices when JK Rowling's anti-trans statements surged online.
However, in a recent report, Watson has clarified that the trans dispute may not be all that is left between their time spent on Harry Potter.
What Happened Between Emma Watson and JK Rowling's Fallout?
Despite practically growing up on set with the Harry Potter author, Emma Watson also grew up with her own stance on the LGBTQ+ community, opposing JK Rowling's. It was 2020 when Rowling began being more vocal about her public criticism of the transgender movement, and when her tweets became viral, Watson fought back.

At the time, Rowling criticized an article that mentioned "people who menstruate" by saying that the writer should have used the word "woman", which prompted accusations of transphobia.
In response to the viral tweets, Watson posted her own series to speak up about the matter: "Trans people are who they say they are and deserve to live their lives without being constantly questioned or told they aren't who they say they are."
Watson added, "I want my trans followers to know that I and so many other people around the world see you, respect you, and love you for who you are. Happy #PRIDE2020 Sending love x."
Even as Rowling continued being against the trans community, Watson once more spoke up about her feelings towards the author, despite what happened.
What Did Emma Watson Clarify About Her Relationship with the Harry Potter Author?
Recently appearing on the On Purpose podcast, Watson was asked about her relationship with Rowling and whether or not it has been impacted by the author's claims against the transgender community.
"I really don't believe that by having had that experience and holding the love and support and views that I have, mean that I can't and don't treasure Jo [Rowling], and the person that I had personal experiences with," Watson clarified, "I will never believe that one negates the other and that my experiences of that person, I don't get to keep and cherish."
"I just don't think these things are either-or," Watson added.
Watson may have made things clear where she stands on not letting her disagreements with the author blur their fond memories on set together, but fans expressed their mixed reactions on the endearment.
While some support her for not letting their differences cloud their relationship, others are "disappointed" over the neutral take Watson took in the interview.
