Here's Why Beckett Immediately Took Han & Chewie In Solo: A Star Wars Story

Solo: A Star Wars Story might not be the most popular Star Wars film out there but it did show fans how Han Solo met Chewbacca. Interestingly, Jon Kasdan has revealed that Han probably never left Mimban if it wasn't for Chewie.

Kasdan recently posted his notes on Solo on his official Twitter account. The screenwriter shared interesting details about the film and somehow confirmed that Beckett was only convinced that he should bring Han along because of Chewie. Check out the tweet below.

The revelation is listed in Kasdan's #12 note.

"We wanted Mimban to evoke Kubrick's Paths of Glory and put Han into the most hellish-possible war environment. Originally, there was a fourth member of Beckett's crew, Korso, and in some shots you can even see him. His performance was great but, given the hectic environment, it became confusing to introduce that character we were going to immediately kill off. The original logic for Korso, who was a rather large man, was that Beckett had lost his muscle and Chewie is a useful replacement."

It certainly was a good call to do away with Korso since his introduction would have slowed down the film's pace. We did wonder why Beckett caved so easily. It's also interesting to note that Solo almost featured an awesome garbage-dumping scene.

Kasdan certainly enjoys being a part of the Star Wars franchise, as confirmed by his father and fellow Solo writer Lawrence Kasdan. The older Kasdan recently admitted that he hasn't seen any of the prequels and only knows about them because of his son.

Despite all of the Kasdans' efforts, Solo still bombed at the box office, leading Disney to decide that it's time to slow down on the release of Star Wars films. If you're still hoping for a new movie focusing solely on Han and Chewie, you'll probably have to wait a few more years.

The Solo: A Star Wars Story DVD and Blu-ray will be released on September 25.
