Henry Cavill has reportedly been injured while filming for the highly anticipated Highlander remake. According to the news, the former The Witcher star's on-set accident has pushed the production date. Here's what actually happened behind the scenes.

What Injury Did Henry Cavill Suffer From During Highlander Training?

42-year-old Henry Cavill may be used to action movies and roles that require training, but the demands of the Highlander remake may have reached his limit. According to Deadline, the former DC star was injured while training for Amazon MGM Studios' United Artists Highlander set.

As a result, production will be delayed on the cult classic reboot until likely early 2026, which may mean the unspecified injury must have caused major damage to Cavill.

Considering that the 1980s Highlander is a fantasy action-adventure that revolves around an immortal Scottish swordsman venturing off to face other immortal warriors, there is no question that the role will take guts to perform, even for someone like Cavill. In the meantime, here's what we can expect from the upcoming remake:

What Can We Expect From Cavill in the Highlander Remake?

The original 1980s flick starred Christopher Lambert and Sean Connery to portray the legendary battle between immortal warriors that unfolded through the past and present-day storylines. Thanks to the movie's success, it spawned multiple sequels, a TV series, and now, the highly anticipated remake with Henry Cavill.

The remake also stars Russell Crowe, Marisa Abela, Karen Gillan, Djimon Hounsou, Dave Bautista, and Max Zhang. It was penned by Michael Finch, produced by UA's Scott Stuber and Nick Nesbitt alongside Neal H. Moritz, Stahelski's banner 87Elevent Entertainment, Josh Davis of Davis Panzer Productions, and Louise Rosner.

In July, Cavill teased on The Hollywood Reporter what it was like working on set for the remake: "That is taking all of my focus."

Cavill added, "It's a project that I'm extremely excited about. This character is going to be a lot of fun to play, and I'm loving working with Chad Stahelski. He is a very talented man."

Pre-production for the Highlander remake will likely continue sometime in 2026. Stay tuned for more updates on this story!
