Seven years have passed since Alden Ehrenreich last portrayed Han Solo in Solo: A Star Wars Story, but is it possible to see him reprise his role in a future potential project?

According to the actor himself, here's one thing he expects before coming back on board in the franchise.

Will Alden Ehrenreich Reprise His Han Solo Role in Star Wars?

"It would have to really, really be the right version of it," Ehrenreich told Collider after being asked about his potential return in the galaxy far, far away.

The award-winning actor made his Star Wars debut in 2018, where he portrayed the young Han Solo as the story showcased his origin story. While fans praised him for his performance, Solo: A Star Wars Story only made $393 million worldwide during its theatrical run.

In the same interview, Ehrenreich noted that making movies "is stressful" no matter the circumstance, "Your job as an actor, in a way, is to use the energy that's happening [around you]. And sometimes that energy involves stress, but [only because] characters are under stress."

Previous actors for the franchise have expressed similar sentiments, especially when it came to telling the right story for their target audiences. As George Lucas once said, the studios sometimes need reminding that their movies are for younger audiences who want to explore the galaxy far, far away.

After all, despite its box office failure, Ehrenreich highlighted that it "set the stage" for his acting career: "It's a great platform, and there were some really great times during it. And I'm happy I get to do what I do now."

Could the Young Han Solo Return to the Franchise?

Disney and Lucasfilm have plenty of time to figure out where the franchise is heading next, but could one of those adventures involve a young Han Solo navigating the galaxy? This remains to be seen, especially since the Solo movie had already covered his origin story.

The only way the young Han Solo would be required to return is if, under special circumstances, Lucasfilm decides to cover more of Solo's adventures while collaborating with unlikely comrades along the way. But we'll have to wait and see when and if that even happens in the near future.

In the meantime, fans can expect The Mandalorian & Grogu on the big screens on May 22, 2026.
