Halle Berry finally got her payback by recreating her kiss with Adrien Brody 22 years after the famous moment happened.

When Brody won his first Oscar in the 2003 ceremony, he unexpectedly kissed Berry on stage when he accepted the Best Actor award and it immediately became one of the controversial moments in the award's history.

Halle Berry Kisses Adrien Brody as Payback for Oscars Kiss 22 Years Ago

While Brody was being interviewed on the red carpet at yesterday's 97th Oscars ceremony, Berry suddenly approached the actor to recreate their kiss.

Before she proceeded to kiss Brody, she told the actor's partner Georgina Chapman, "I'm sorry, Georgina, but I gotta do it.

After the two Oscar winners kissed, Berry remarked, "I have to do it. I have to pay him back." She also clarified that she wouldn't do the kiss to Brody without Chapman's consent.

In another red carpet interview, Berry addressed why she decided to do a payback on Brody about their famous Oscars kiss 22 years later.

"That was one hell of a night for him, and for me as well. To be a part of his moment... tonight I had to pay him back," the Oscar-winning actress said.

"I’ve seen him out at parties, but this is the first time since that night that I’ve seen him on the red carpet somewhere. He’s nominated this year. He deserved that."

While their famous Oscars kiss 22 years ago was controversial at that time, this showed that Berry and Brody have been in good terms and there is no bad blood between them.

Adrien Brody Wins Oscar for Best Actor

The night ended up being a victorious one for Brody as he ended up winning Best Actor for his performance in The Brutalist. It marked his second Oscar win.

He prevailed over fellow nominees such as Timothee Chalamet (who was seen as the potential spoiler in the race), Colman Domingo, Ralph Fiennes, and Sebastian Stan.

In his lengthy acceptance speech, he thanked his partner, family, and everyone involved in the making of the film. He also reflected on his career since winning his first Oscar and the chaos that has been happening around the world.

"I'm here once again to represent the lingering traumas and the repercussions of war, and systematic oppression and of antisemitism and racism and of othering," the two-time Oscar winner said.

"And I believe that I pray for a healthier and a happier and a more inclusive world, and I believe if the past can teach us anything, it's a reminder to not let hate go unchecked. Let's fight for what's right. Keep smiling, keep loving one another."
