Hailey said he and Justin had a big fight about something she said. Hailey didn’t say what exactly she said to Bieber, but she described it as “something very immature and stupid.”
Hailey said that she thought at the time that Justin may have even thought about backing out of marrying her, indicating that the fight had broken out before the two were hitched.
“I did something that hurt him, and I think that kind of maybe took that idea (of marrying me) out of his mind at that point," Hailey said.
When talking about the fight, Hailey confirmed with Justin on the podcast that there was one moment when she damaged the “idea of me for you.” However, Hailey said she never lost hope that they would be married someday because Justin wanted to raise a family.

Hailey Recalls Time When She Almost Gave Up
Apart from the big fight that almost broke them up, Hailey and Justin also talked about another challenging period in their relationship. This time, the troubles had stemmed from Justin going through some mental problems. Hailey said, at one point, she had to call her mom to talk about her doubts about her future with Justin.
Hailey described how she was constantly crying during that time and how she was ready to give up. Without really revealing what Justin was dealing with, Hailey said that there was no way she could go on if something didn’t change.
Hailey recalled how her mom had talked her out of doing something stupid and encouraged her to stay strong and that Justin would be healthy, and they were all there for her.
“She was so calm on the phone, and she was like, ‘It’s going to pass, and you’re going to be fine, and he’s going to be healthy, and we’re here for you.'" Hailey said.

Still Standing By Her Man
Despite the troubles the couple has been through, Hailey has continued to defend Justin. In September, Hailey addressed rumors that her husband had been mistreating her. Hailey described those allegations on an episode of “4D with Demi Lovato” as nothing more than “big, far lies.”
Hailey got engaged to Justin in July 2018 following years of on-again, off-again dating. The two then married a few months later. They then held an intimate ceremony attended by family and close friends in 2019.
