Gypsy Rose Blanchard offers advice to the Menendez Brothers on what to do if Hollywood welcomes them after their release from prison.

The brothers, who have been serving time for 35 years, are requesting a new trial that could lead to their exoneration. If they succeed, the entertainment industry will likely be keen to engage with them, Blanchard said.

Gypsy Rose Blanchard has something to say to Lyle and Erik Menendez if they are released from prison.

The 33-year-old was asked by a TMZ interviewer in Los Angeles on Monday about her thoughts on the brothers stepping into the entertainment world after their release.

“The world wants it,” she said. “I will say the one thing I kinda wish I did was take time away from the media when I first got out of prison and give myself time to adjust. I didn’t do that, and I got overwhelmed by it.”

Blanchard, who has been featured in several TV shows and published books about her experiences, shares a similar situation with the sons of Jose and Kitty Menendez.

Both were involved in the murder of their parents after years of abuse. The Menendez brothers were allegedly sexually abused by their father, while Blanchard suffered from Munchausen by Proxy at the hands of her mother, Dee Dee Blanchard.

Blanchard’s ex-boyfriend, Nicholas Godejohn, was the one who stabbed her mother, and the Gypsy Rose: Life After Lockup star was convicted of second-degree murder, receiving a 10-year prison sentence. She served eight years before her release in 2023.

“It’s a lot to handle. I would say, if they ever do get released: Take a break. Really work on yourself. Get your feet on the ground, and if that’s something you want to pursue, go right ahead.”

When asked if she believes Hollywood would embrace them once they are free despite their crimes, the social media influencer agreed.

“I think that Hollywood would embrace them. Just like I said before, I hope the critics won’t bring them down.”

The Menendez brothers have been at the center of true crime discussions and entertainment coverage over the past year after their case was featured in the Netflix docuseries Ryan Murphy’s Monsters: The Lyle and Erik Menendez Story.

Speaking to TMZ with the same interviewer, Blanchard was asked about Erik and Lyle Menendez having relationships after prison and whether they should have children.

“I’d say embrace being in a relationship if it’s with the right person,” she responded.

Blanchard’s partner, Ken Urker, whom she referred to in the interview as her soulmate and biggest supporter, welcomed a daughter with her on January 1, 2025.

“If they want kids, by all means, live your life.” The author of Released: Conversations on the Eve of Freedom suggested that the brothers do whatever they want when it comes to starting a family, as becoming a parent was something she hadn’t expected for herself.

Blanchard shared her thoughts about motherhood during pregnancy in a July 2024 interview with Juju Chang of ABC News.

"I understand that with my past, there are gonna be a lot of people who question if I should even be a mother or have children in my care," Blanchard said.

Reflecting on her past with her mother, Blanchard promised to raise her child while witnessing every milestone — something she said she never experienced.

"I want my child to have all of the things that he or she could ever want in life."
