Gwyneth Paltrow has weighed in on the recent shocking announcement regarding Robert Downey Jr.'s MCU return as Doctor Doom.

After years of speculations from fans, it was finally confirmed during Marvel Studio's San Diego Comic-Con Hall H presentation that the MCU vet is returning to the franchise as the fan-favorite villain.

The announcement has spawned divisive reactions among fans as many of them were stunned by the decision while some are excited with the news and are looking forward to seeing the Oscar winner in the MCU again.

Gwyneth Paltrow Reacts to Robert Downey Jr.'s MCU Return as Doctor Doom

Paltrow recently reacted to the news of Downey's shocking MCU return as Doctor Doom by commenting on the actor's Instagram post.

As most fans know, she played Pepper Potts opposite Downey's Tony Stark in the MCU.

"I don’t get it, are you a baddie now?" she wrote in her comment.

The Oscar-winning actress is likely confused about why Downey is returning as the villain of the upcoming Avengers movies instead of reprising his iconic role of Tony Stark.

It is still unknown whether Downey is playing a Tony Stark variant who becomes Doctor Doom or the actual Victor Van Doom.

Last year, Paltrow addressed her potential MCU return and explained why she hasn't made any appearances again post-Endgame.

"Oh my god, stop yelling at me! We just stopped doing it because Iron Man died, and why do you need Pepper Potts without Iron Man? I don't know, call up Marvel and yell at them, not me. I'm just sitting here," she said.

Now that Downey is officially returning to the MCU, it opens up a question on whether they will also invite Paltrow back to either reprise the role of Pepper Potts or play a variant who is working alongside Doctor Doom.

There's still a lot of questions on how Downey's Doctor Doom will play out in the upcoming Avengers movies. Whether you agree with the casting choice or not, there is no doubt that this is an intriguing risky decision that will change the course of the MCU moving forward.
