I think we can all agree that the Guardians of the Galaxy franchise has a pretty great ensemble of actors and the chemistry between them, especially the original cast members Chris Pratt, Zoe Saldana, Karen Gillan, Dave Bautista, Bradley Cooper, and Vin Diesel is off the charts. Now, a surprising new rumor claims that the lineup we all know and love almost wasn't to be and according to a post from the Movies Now Twitter page, a huge Hollywood A-lister almost starred in the MCU blockbuster.

The account claims that acclaimed actor and comedian Adam Sandler was in the running to voice Rocket Raccoon in the first GOTG film but director James Gunn chose Bradley Cooper over him. That for sure is a surprising bit of information but if that wasn't enough, they also said that after failing to get the Rocket role, Sandler auditioned to voice Groot but to no avail.

The viral post caught the attention of Gunn who quickly dismissed the rumor, saying that he's never met Sandler in person. Check out his response below:

I gotta say, the idea of Adam Sandler joining the Marvel Cinematic Universe sounds like a brilliant idea but as it stands, I don't think Marvel Studios has any plans to enlist him in the near future. Meanwhile, the third Guardians of the Galaxy film is already shaping up to be better than the first two films and with it potentially being Gunn's final rodeo in the billion-dollar franchise, it's already safe to say that it's going to be huge.

The MCU's third Guardians of the Galaxy film is scheduled for release on May 5, 2023.
