There is little doubt that Godzilla: King of the Monsters already has people looking forward to an epic showdown between two icons. However, it looks like we will have to wait a little longer for Godzilla vs. Kong.
The third Godzilla film is currently scheduled for release on March 2020. However, in a new interview with Deadline, Warner Bros. boss Toby Emmerich has revealed that the sequel could get pushed back to a late 2020 premiere. But before you start cursing at the heavens for the delay, the studio has an acceptable reason to push the movie a little later than expected.
Emmerich stated that Godzilla vs. Kong "will deliver for fans in the way they were looking for." Unfortunately, this could call for a delay in the premiere date.
"It might come out later in the year, so we can deliver an A+ movie," Emmerich said.
It's certainly disappointing that the wait for Godzilla vs. Kong will be a lot longer. Nevertheless, it could also mean that there will be more time to make sure the sequel will blow everyone away.
The synopsis for Godzilla vs. Kong reads as follows:
Godzilla vs. Kong is currently scheduled for release on March 13, 2020. However, Warner Bros. could announce a later release date before the end of 2019.
