Glee star Lea Michele revealed that her relationship with her co-stars became "fractured" in the aftermath of Cory Monteith's death.

Most fans would remember that the series faced an unexpected challenge when Monteith suddenly died from a drug overdose in July 2013 before the fifth season started filming. The series ended up paying tribute to the late actor in a special episode.

In a recent interview on Therapuss with Jake Shane podcast, Michele shared that her relationship with the Glee cast became "fractured" in the aftermath of Monteith's sudden death.

"I was 26 and no one handed me a guidebook. It was a fast education on more stuff than I could ever even process," she said.

Aside from their on-screen romance, Michele and Monteith were notably dating in real life at the time of the actor's passing.

Michele added, "If we didn't show up for work then people wouldn't have work to go to. And that was a lot of pressure for me, so I had to put my stuff aside and just show up, so that everybody could continue to work."

Shane asked the actress, "Do you feel as though you guys all banded together in a very tight-knit way?"

"No. I think it really fractured so much," Michelle responded. "I mean, I can’t speak for everyone. I think that maybe, in some ways, it did for certain people. But I think that for me, it was so hard to. I just completely broke.

She added, "I was really in a one-track mind of just doing my job. It was way too much to try to process at a young age."

Despite that, Michelle emphasized that she still feels supported by the cast and crew.

Lea Michele's Current Relationship with the Cast

When it comes to her relationship with the living cast members today, Michele shared that she still keeps in touch with some of them.

"I see Darren [Criss] all the time. He’s like my brother, and Dianna [Agron] and I both live in the city now," she said.

"There is such a comfort because we all really did go through something that only we will ever understand. So I feel so safe with them and so comfortable. Family forever."

Michele reunited with the aforementioned Glee co-stars recently as they were photographed together in Criss' Broadway show Maybe Happy Ending.
