Celebrity chef Gino D'Acampo's ITV future is now uncertain, with reports of his departure and a move to Australia coinciding with serious misconduct allegations. Was his exit voluntary, or was he pushed out amid the "unacceptable" behavior investigation? Here's what we know so far.
Has Gino D'Acampo Really Made His Exit from ITV?
ITV has recently cut ties with TV chef Gino D'Acampo after serious misconduct allegations started going rampant.
According to reports from The Mirror, Gino is reportedly moving to Australia as part of his major career move.
Apparently, the famed 48-year-old TV chef is reportedly planning to launch several new ventures in Down Under, including two restaurants, a cookware range, and a culinary tech platform, as he slowly paces away from his usual UK spotlight.
"[Gino] loves Australia a lot — the people, culture, cleanliness and environment," D'Acampo's representative said while adding that despite his 'fantastic career' in the UK, "It's been made clear to him that TV opportunities here are few and far between in the wake of recent allegations, and that's frustrating."
But do the rumored accusations hold merit? Did D'Acampo voluntarily depart from ITV, or was he forced to make his exit? Find out here.
Are the Misconduct Claims Towards Gino A'Campo True?
Earlier this year, ITV News announced that they had conducted a thorough investigation into "unacceptable", "distressing", and "horrendous behavior" by D'Acampo, some of which allegedly dates back over a decade.
Last year in December, it was revealed that D'Acampo had been placed on a language and behavior course by ITV bosses.
There had also been claims that ITV failed to act on repeated complaints, which included incidents of making inappropriate comments towards This Morning host Holly Willoughby in 2018.
Reported in March this year, D'Acampo's Family Fortunes slot has been replaced on ITV, following reports that the decision to shelf it was due to the allegations towards the presenter.
He also lost the opportunity to be a part of Gordon, Gino and Fred: Road Trip after he refused to sign a morality clause.
Still, D'Acampo had always 'firmly denied' the allegations and even said they have become 'deeply upsetting.'
For now, the decision to move to Australia comes right after the collapse of his restaurant business, which sank into debts of £7.3 million. He had since listed his £4.2 million Hertfordshire home for sale. Stay tuned for more updates on this story.
