Fantasy fans reading George R.R. Martin's A Song of Ice and Fire novels might have all but given up on the hope that they'll ever get to finish the book series given that The Winds of Winter has been missing for years, but Martin promises that he'll finish what he started regardless of how Game of Thrones ends.
Posting on his blog to celebrate the overwhelming success of his Game of Thrones Targaryen prequel novel, Fire and Blood, Martin set out to remind fans that he still has The Winds of Winter on his mind, thanking his readers and fans for their patience and their support despite the many years that he's made everyone wait.
"...my thanks go out to my fans and readers," the fantasy writer put down on his post. "I know you want WINDS, and I am going to give it to you… but I am delighted that you stayed with me for this one as well. Your patience and unflagging support means the world to me."
Though the author doesn't have a specific publication date for everyone to anticipate, he does promise his readers that they eventually will get the very last volume of A Song of Ice and Fire.
"I am back in my fortress of solitude, and back in Westeros. It won't be tomorrow, and it won't be next week, but you will get the end of A SONG OF ICE AND FIRE," he assures everyone.
While Martin doesn't have a publication date to convince everyone that The Winds of Winter is finally on its way, we're glad to see that the writer is finally committing to completing his book. It'd be heartbreaking if Martin were to never complete A Song of Ice and Fire while HBO's adaptation, Game of Thrones, goes out with a bang next year.
Game of Thrones season 8 premieres sometime in April 2019.
