I think we can all agree that Tim Burton's Batman films top-billed by Michael Keaton were quintessential to shaping the superhero genre we all enjoy today but the Bat-quadrilogy of the '90s isn't without its faults. Things began to take a downward spiral after Keaton left the franchise following Batman Returns and Burton was reduced to a producer role for the next film, Batman Forever.
It can be argued that the Val Kilmer-led film is actually a pretty decent entry but the same thing can't be said for Batman & Robin which was basically the final nail in the franchise's coffin. The 1997 flick left nothing to be desired and it turned George Clooney into one of the DC fandom's most despised actors. But what if we told you there's a chance he could come back as Batman?
Twitter insider MyTimeToShineHello set the online world ablaze following a GIF post that hints at Clooney's return as the caped crusader over 25 years since the release of the divisive Joel Schumacher film.
While the often reliable scooper didn't dish out details about the actor's potential reprisal of Batman, her fellow tipster CanWeGetSomeToast tweeted out that Ezra Miller's The Flash will find himself stuck in Clooney's universe which obviously means the actor could appear in the upcoming DCU flick.

As wild as this rumor is, things don't seem to add up since Keaton and Clooney played the same Batman from the same Earth and continuity. Of course, that's not to say that Clooney can't be given the opportunity to suit up once again as the Dark Knight and we're guessing he's actually from another universe that completely ignores the events of Batman & Robin.
The possibility of him returning as Batman may not sit well with a lot of fans but if anything, this serves as the actor's redemption arc after his first outing as the beloved character flopped hard.
DC's The Flash is scheduled for theatrical release on June 16, 2023.
