Julia Roberts and George Clooney are reuniting for the romantic-comedy film Ticket to Paradise. The co-stars shared more details about their onscreen kiss that reportedly took 80 takes, and Clooney said it infuriated his wife, Amal Clooney.
Julia Roberts And George Clooney Talk About Ticket To Paradise Kissing Scene
Clooney, 61, and Roberts, 54, sat down with Hoda Kotb on Today to promote their upcoming movie Ticket to Paradise. The two celebrities have been friends for over two decades.
The host asked them if it was awkward filming some scenes, including their kissing scene.
"It is when my wife and kids come by to visit," Clooney joked.
"I mean it was the first day they came to visit," Roberts added. "It's like, 'Papa, oh, Auntie Juju.' It's like – 'Get 'em out, get 'em out!'"
Clooney said it was "really bad" —not the kiss but probably the timing. "'What are you doing, Papa? What is that?'" he jokingly added.
The Ocean's Eleven actor clarified that his kids were not around when they filed the kissing scenes. Kotb asked if they laughed during the kiss, and both shared their reactions.
"It's kinda ridiculous," Roberts said. "It is like kissing your best friend."
"Well, thanks for that," Clooney replied. "You know I was a two-time 'Sexiest Man Alive?'"
"Then you go, 'Wait, my best friend is George Clooney," Roberts added.
More About George Clooney And Julia Roberts' Onscreen Kiss
In a previous virtual interview with The New York Times, George Clooney and Julia Roberts also joined together to talk about their film. During the chat, he shared that "we kiss in this."
"One kiss. And we did it for, like, six months," Roberts chimed in.
Clooney said he talked about their onscreen kiss with his wife Amal and shared the humanitarian's reaction.
"Yeah. I told my wife, 'It took 80 takes.' She was like, "What the hell?" Clooney said, referring to Amal's reaction.
"It took 79 takes of us laughing and then the one take of us kissing," Roberts clarified.
"We had to get it right," Clooney added.
Roberts and Clooney play as a divorced couple on Ticket to Paradise, who try to stop their daughter's surprise wedding with someone she met during a graduation trip to Bali. However, the reunion sparked their characters to rekindle their romance because, by the end of the film, they went from "exes to something like XO," the outlet noted.
Ticket to Paradise will hit theaters on Oct. 21.
