Legendary actor Gene Hackman has passed away at the age of 95. The two-time Oscar winner was known for his decades-long work in film until his retirement in 2004 with numerous iconic roles in his resume.

Santa Fe County Sheriff Adan Mendoza confirmed to the media that Hackman has died at the age of 95.
He was found dead with his 63-year-old wife and classical pianist Betsy Arakawa and their dog in their home in Santa Fe, New Mexico on Wednesday afternoon.
No cause of death has been provided yet, but the authorities have said that they do not suspect any indication of foul play on the couple's passing.
Hackman retired from acting in 2004. He has made very few public appearances since then as he was living quietly with his wife in Santa Fe.
Gene Hackman's Legendary Career
Hackman's legendary career spanned four decades with numerous iconic films and roles in his resume.
He won two Academy Awards for his iconic performance as Jimmy "Popeye" Doyle in The French Connection and the villainous sheriff "Little" Bill Daggett in Unforgiven.
He also starred in acclaimed films such as Bonnie and Clyde, The Poseidon Adventure, Young Frankenstein, A Bridge Too Far, Reds, Hoosiers, Mississippi Burning, The Firm, Get Shorty, The Birdcage, and The Royal Tenenbaums.
Most comic book fans would know him for playing Lex Luthor in the Superman films that starred Christopher Reeve.
His last film was the 2004 comedy Welcome to Mooseport where he co-stars alongside Ray Romano.
Aside from winning two Oscars, he was also the recipient of awards such as the Cecil B. DeMille Award, two BAFTA Awards, three Golden Globe Awards, and one SAG Award.
