Next summer, the Mad Max: Fury Road prequel film Furiosa is set to arrive in theaters. This time around, Anya Taylor-Joy is taking on the role of the younger version of the fan-favorite character that was first played by Charlize Theron.
Considering the smashing success of Fury Road, there is a lot of hope that the prequel will deliver the same quality and hardcore dystopian action that the other Mad Max films have become known for.
Now, after years of anticipation, we finally have our lovely first look at the highly-anticipated film.

Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga Releases First Trailer
Warner Bros. has released the first trailer for Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga which gave us our preview at the origins of the titular character and the post-apocalyptic odyssey that she endured in her younger years.
Taylor-Joy's Furiosa, who is sporting long hair unlike Theron's bald look in Fury Road, was obviously the center of the two-and-a-half-minute-long trailer. She is seen in several action shots as finds herself in an ongoing war in the Wasteland.
Chris Hemsworth's villainous Warlord Dementius also had a major spotlight in the trailer as we saw him take part in the action as well and his look is undoubtedly different from his well-known roles in the MCU and Netflix's Extraction franchise.
We also got our first glimpse at the younger Immortan Joe, who is not yet the type of leader that we've seen in Fury Road. It is likely that the film will also explore how he rose to power and became the maniacal figure that he's known for.
Visually, it is very similar to Fury Road and you can definitely tell that the same creative team was involved in the prequel including the franchise's mastermind George Miller, who is back in the director's chair.
This is a promising first look at the film as it gives the audience an assurance that it will likely give the same experience as Fury Road did in terms of exciting high-octane action and beautiful imagery.
While some of the VFX and color grading might feel unfinished, there are still several more months left for the post-production team to work on and the final results are likely going to be as terrific as the first film was.
Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga is slated for release in theaters on May 24, 2024.
