- Quick Answer: The original Jurassic Park cast reunited for an Xfinity Super Bowl commercial, directed by Taika Waititi, depicting how Wi-Fi could have saved the park.
The original cast of Jurassic Park has reunited to star in a new Super Bowl commercial that reimagines the iconic film.
To this day, the Steven Spielberg dinosaur film continues to find its way in the modern pop culture sphere. Not only has it become one of the most rewatchable films and favorites among many generations of audiences, but it has also spawned a major franchise, with the most recent installment released just last year.
What is the New Jurassic Park Super Bowl Commercial About?
The main trio of Jurassic Park, Sam Neill, Laura Dern, and Jeff Goldblum, starred in a new commercial from Comcast's Xfinity that will air during the Super Bowl game this Sunday.
They all reprised their iconic roles in the extended commercial that reimagines the plot of the original film. Instead of Dennis Nedry dismantling the security system and letting the dinosaurs out of the cage, the theme park successfully opened thanks to Xfinity's Wi-Fi system.
Taika Waititi directed the commercial, and his team recreated the 1993 film to painstaking detail, including the costumes of the main characters. They also recreated some of the iconic moments from the original, but with a twist.
The original Jurassic Park trio previously reunited in Jurassic World Dominion, which saw them crossover with the main stars of Jurassic World. However, the film received a divisive reception from critics and audiences, and its production was largely affected by the COVID-19 pandemic.
"This Sunday, while millions of people watch the Big Game on NBC and Peacock, we’ll be reimagining one of the most iconic moments in movie history," Jon Gieselman, Chief Growth Officer of Connectivity and Platforms at Comcast, said in a statement.
"By asking what Jurassic Park could have been with Xfinity’s fast, secure wifi, we’re creating a fun, cultural crossover only Comcast NBCUniversal could deliver, combining blockbuster storytelling with real-world technology that protects, connects, and powers millions of customers every day."
What's Next in the Jurassic World Franchise

According to a report by TheInSneider, Universal Pictures and producer Steven Spielberg are officially moving forward with a sequel to Jurassic World Rebirth following its box office success last year.
Gareth Edwards is in final talks to return as the director of the installment. Scarlett Johansson, Jonathan Bailey, and Mahershala Ali are also expected to reprise their roles as they all survived the events of Rebirth.
So far, neither Universal nor the people involved in the project have commented on the reports of the sequel, but it's not surprising for fans that it is happening, given that Rebirth was one of the top grossers at the box office last year.
The plot details remain unknown at the moment, as does the writer who will be hired to pen the screenplay for the next installment. For now, fans should stay tuned for more updates in the coming months.
