Kirsten Dunst has expressed interest in starring in the sequel to A Minecraft Movie to get a massive paycheck.
Last spring, the highly anticipated A Minecraft Movie was released in theaters to massive success. Not only did it become a viral sensation on social media thanks to the "Chicken Jockey" memes, but the film also managed to gross nearly $1 billion worldwide and become one of the most successful theatrical releases of the year. A sequel is now reportedly in development.
Why Is Kirsten Dunst Interested in Starring in A Minecraft Movie Sequel?

In an interview with Town & Country magazine, Dunst surprisingly revealed that she is open to starring in a potential sequel to A Minecraft Movie.
If you're wondering why Dunst has an interest in doing this type of blockbuster project, the outlet explained that "her kids loved the first one, and because she’d like to make a pile of cash."
The actress remarked, "Maybe I can just make a movie where I don’t lose money?"
While Dunst has mostly worked on independent and auteur films throughout her career, she has also starred in major studio films. As comic book movie fans already know, she notably played Mary Jane Watson in Sam Raimi's Spider-Man trilogy starring Tobey Maguire.
Last year, Dunst also expressed interest in doing another comic book movie due to financial reasons as well. "Because you get paid a lot of money, and I have two children, and I support my mother," she said at that time.
What Are Kirsten Dunst's Upcoming Projects?
Dunst is set to star in upcoming films such as Roofman and The Entertainment System Is Down, both original projects from auteurs.
She is also collaborating with Sofia Coppola again on another project, set to begin filming next year.
"Kirsten makes cool choices. She’s never hokey. She can be fully sincere and in touch with emotions without ever being embarrassing," the director described Dunst to Town & Country.
"I love working with her and I know she gets me, and I’m excited for her to be the age she is now... I feel like she’s in her Gena Rowlands age and can do complex roles."
However, there is no official word yet on whether Dunst is indeed going to be recruited for A Minecraft Movie sequel.
